AKC: On Wings of....Magenta...?
Posted 2010-03-17 14:12:57 by Aoelyn
- What is it? A pain in the ass. It shares a model and tab icon with the much more common and easier to obtain Green Wing Macaw, Cockatiel, and Senegal. It also looks NOTHING LIKE THE REAL BIRD. ARRGGGgghhhhh...!!!
- How do I get one? The source of these birds would be the Bloodsail Pirates in the southern part of Stranglethorn Vale. The drop rate off the pirates is considered by some to be about 1 in 5000 and others insist ...

- What is it? This looks -exactly- like the Bogflare Needlers in Zangarmarsh that it drops from. No other companion pet has this model.
- How do I get one? From the above-linked mobs. The drop chance ...

AKC: Blizzard set us up the bomb

The Achievement Kennel Club is your official weekly, obsessive-compulsive, minipet showcase. Brought to you by Aeolyn and Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuits.
So on the PTR right now (and perhaps on Live by the time this entry gets posted! /cross fingers) the Pet Bombling and Lil' Smoky have become a great deal more accessible to the average player. And for this week I'll be foregoing my usual format in favor of a bit of a history lesson since these little guys have been through so many changes over the course of the game.
These two pets started out as a sort of badge of honor among Engineers. Not only did you have to be an Engineer to get one; but your specialization limited you to chasing after a single one of them (Smoky = Gnome style and Bomb = Goblin spec). Our hated friend, RNG, also had quite a hand in obtaining these guys, as you had a small chance to get the pet schematic you wanted each time you renewed your membership with your NPC engineering buddies.
3.1.0 hit and scrapped this idea, as well as the Goblin/Gnome spec requirement, in favor of just having the patterns to make these cool little guys drop in Gnomeregan. The pet bomb from the zone's boss, Mekgineer Thermaplugg, who pours bombs of the same model into the room as his primary fight mechanic. And Lil' Smoky was made to drop from...well, primarily the Arcane Nullifiers in the ...Read more...

If you're on this website you probably take WoW at least somewhat seriously. I would define WoW as a hobby moreso than I would as a game. I mean, it obviously is a game. The thing is that when you have a massive community surrounding a game a lot of things start to happen. Some good, some bad.
Going by the picture at the top of what I just wrote, I'm sure anyone can guess where I'm going with this. There are people online right now who want nothing more than to take your account from you. I've been playing MMOs at this point for something like a decade; and nothing pains me more than seeing the hard word of my peers being used to further the efforts of some account hijacker who gains the benefit of your gold from your farming. Or steals everything in your guild bank. Or prevents you from making raid night because all your gear got sharded. Or does any number of other things to disrupt your ability to enjoy the game.
I know a lot of people really don't like the authenticators. And I've heard a ton of player arguments against them. The most common being "I've been playing for X years and haven't been hijacked ...

AKC: Toxic Love

While the battle against Arthas reaches its climax and the fate of the world rests on the edge of oblivion, it becomes important that we take a step back and remember what really matters most in life: Non-combat pets. The Lich King's wrath will have to wait because today we face the blood-chilling ire of the Love is in the Air festival, a sickeningly cute holiday event that boasts two frighteningly not cute pets to add for your collection.
First we have the returning Peddlefeet who is a great deal easier to capture this year than he was previously. And secondly we have a lovable slimeball, all new for the 2010 season! Toxic Wasteling. Because nothing says "I love you" like a carnivorous, faceless, radioactive horror.
The wasteling is the newer, flashier, and more complex of the two holiday pets. So lets get right into the thick of things.
Toxic Wasteling
- What is it? The Toxic Wasteling is an ooze minipet that shares a model with the Disgusting Oozeling (although they thankfully have completely different icons in your pet tab). The wasteling is several shades lighter and brighter than its elder counterpart, and in my opinion its bubbles are more clearly visible.
- How do I get one? This pet is a "Very Low" (3% - 14% says WoW Armory) drop chance reward from the Apothecary Hummel encounter ...

AKC: Nether Ray Fry!
Posted 2010-01-06 12:21:57 by Aoelyn
What’s up everyone, this is Paranoia, for this week’s AKC I’m going to do a pet that takes a bit more work to get, but in the end you even get some mounts with it!
The Nether Ray Fry is obtainable by reaching Exalted status with the Sha’tari Skyguard, which exalted status also gets you access to their mounts as well. You can find the Sha’tari Skyguard in Terokkar Forest, on the plateau south of Allerian Stronghold, and also another base in Blade's Edge Mountain just north of Ogri’la.
In order to get exalted with the Sha’tari Skyguard, you must complete all the daily quests, well, daily. Here’s a list of the daily quests to help you get exalted as fast as you can.
Daily Quests:
Fires Over Skettis (In Terokkar Forest) – 350 rep
Escape From Skettis (In Terokkar Forest) – 150 rep
Wrangle Some Aether Rays! (In Blade's Edge Mountains) – 350 rep
Bomb Them Again! (In Blade's Edge Mountains) - 500 Rep
Also killing mobs in Skettis will earn you rep, a few mobs can give rep all the way up to exalted!
Best of luck to everyone getting this pet and I’ll see yall next time in AKC!
