So what's going on?

Well, here's the problem...

when we had the server problems yesterday, all the data about our users got corrupt... NO PROBLEM, we have a backup... however, that backup needs to be indexed to go faster...

That's where the problem happened... the db is currently down due to this indexing...

So, that aside... I was asked where you guys can vote on the halloween costumes.

Hey everyone,

So... here's the deal... I'm a great coder. No no, trust me... it's true. ... ok you can stop laughing now...

But When I started this site, I wasn't nearly as good as I am now. Because of that, I didn't have the foresight to envision everything you guys would want on the site.

So I'm going to remedy that.

What do you want on this site? Don't assume anything, if you hate the search, tell me, if you hate the top 10 placement, tell me. I'm going to take any request that's well thought out, seriously.

My server company had a "power issue" last night, and because of that, a lot of my tables got corrupt or some crap...

GTA: Dead Man's Party

Hey guys!

So, obvious GTA is obvious. Get Dead Man's Party

Aside from that, isn't the Day of the dead banner awesome?! You know it is.

So, Day of the Dead... easy, a bit of a dissapointment to pet collectors everywhere... but despite many threads being made on the WoW forums last night here, related to Blizz making the pet permanent.

I am actually inclined to agree with the opposing reasoning... Essentially it goes like this

Guy: Mayk teh pet permnent!
Other Guy: But he's a little guy visiting from the afterlife... that's why he's only around for two days.
Guy: But I wannnnnnts it!
Other Guy: Don't worry, I'm sure Blizz will cave.

Saw about 20 threads like this yesterday and this morning. Probably right.

So how was everyone's Halloween?

Day of the Dead

Hey guys, real quick post just to let you know what to do for Day of the dead.

(Taken from Mmo-champion)

Go to any graveyard, preferably the one of your faction's capital city. (We'll get to that later)
Dance with Catrina here. (Screenshot)
That's it!

Now let's get you a Macabre Marionette.

Buy the Recipe: Bread of the Dead from Chapman next to Catrina and learn it.
Buy the Simple Flour from any cooking supplies NPC (just take the one next to the trainer if you don't know where they are) and Ice Cold Milk from most Innkeeper and Food/Drink vendors.
Go to the graveyard of your faction's capital city and go to the Ghostly Cooking Fire next to Catrina.
Create a Bread of the Dead.
Buy an Orange Marigold or a Bouquet of Orange Marigolds from Chapman (the NPC who sells the recipe) and use it. Ghosts will appear in the graveyard.
One of the ghosts will offer the following quest : The Grateful Dead.
Give the bread to the ghost to receive your Macabre Marionette!

Hey guys and girls (even though "girls don't play WoW"),

So... weekend time. My weekend is going to be FILLED with trick or treating... in fact, it's going to be SO chaulk full of Trick or Treating that I'm gonna get a belly ache! ... (that joke was lame on purpose.)

So, the way I see it, when I get home (around 6:00 p.m.), let's assume I get online at 6:15, I'm going to have until 11:59 p.m. Saturday night to finish trick or treating.

That's 30 ToTs. Plus 1 daily for putting out the fires (getting the daily from the pumpkin) today and tomorrow. So 32 attempts left. Plus, if I'm good I'll get my alts into Headless Horsemans... but I won't include those being as how it's way too dynamic how many you'll be able to get into.

Looks like I won't be sleeping until Sunday Morning :) (Unless of course, I get lucky, then this is all for nothing).

Also, don't forget that the Day of the dead starts on Sunday (1 a.m. on my server, probably yours too!). As I understand it, you just need to go dance with some broad named Catrina. My best guess is that she's going to be in Dalaran (judging by Bread of the Dead.

For those of you going to Halloween parties this weekend, be sure to get a picture of yourself for Our Halloween Costume Contest (keep in mind, that we don't want screenshots, we want RL pics of you in your costume... bonus points if you're heavily intoxicated :) (bonus points shall be awarded in "internets" not actual favoritism when selecting the winner).

Well, that's about it for me until Monday... I'll be posting something on Sunday to tell you where Catrina actually is (but like I said, assume Dalaran).

Hallow's End: Superstitions?

Hey guys!

So as I've been doing the Trick or Treating, I've noticed that ToT is not without it's superstitions... As far as I go, when I trick or treat, I always jump because I believe that it reduces the rate that I get tricked... might be completely false, but /shrug.

So far I'm 7/10 characters with "the Hallowed" title.

Do you guys have any little superstitions?

Hey guys,

Is it just me, or does it seem like there isn't much interest in Hallow's End this year? Must be because of all the hard core achievers already having their Achievements. I'm personally finding it hard to get a group, even from within my guild.

I'd like to point out two things real quick. I got a screenshot submission this morning that wanted to be part of the Halloween contest, but was an in game shot. Just to clarify, the Contest is for Real Life Halloween Costumes.

And More importantly, I've been getting (an annoying amount of) posts related to this guy, who currently has 10730 achievement points.

I've been getting some e-mails and suggestions to localize WoW-Achievements for Taiwanese, Chinese and Korean. There are a couple of reasons that I haven't yet. The most important of which was related to poor planning on my part when I started the website, so it would be a HUGE undertaking... and I'm not just saying that.

However, I started down that path a little while ago and eventually it WILL be supported... but another big problem is the stability of the wowarmory for those three regions... they go down more than Tera Patrick. Which makes it very hard to maintain.

As my most recent idea for a new website was kinda trumped by a multi-million dollar backed website /cough Curse /cough, I've found myself with no new project to work on... so I may redesign WoW-Achievements backend... we'll see :)

If that does happen, I'll put in support for these regions.

In other news, if you want to earn an achievement, you can go get your [QQ on the forums about Pally Nerfs] achievement. lol.

Hey guys!

Man... I hooked up my Blackberry to the e-mail I used for this contest... YOU GUYS WOULDN'T LEAVE ME ALONE ALL WEEKEND! DING! DING! DING!

GJ though, we had 520 entries in 2 1/2 days... not too bad :)

The winner was selected via a randomly selected number used from Random.org as to get rid of any of the QQing that we had with the Violet Proto-drake prize.

I'm contacting the winner now. He/She/It has until 11:59:59 p.m. Monday October 26th EST to respond to the e-mail or I'll be picking another winner.

I really liked seeing some of the stories you guys added to the contest posts comments about why you liked certain contests.

Hey all!

Sorry about the lack of posts this week, not a whole lot to report on since Blizz keeps me from talking about data mined information :(

ICC is looking like it's going to rock though. Personally I'm hoping there are some more achievements other than the typical "Kill this raid boss in under 2 minutes" or the usual achievements we've all come to know and get bored of.

Has anyone out there hit the 20 mask achievement yet? I find it funny how RNG is. My main Mep, only has like 12 masks. And about 5 of my other characters are working on their last four.

Although, I've seen some cool math out there to describe how much time you should expect to spend to get all twenty masks. Based on statistics alone

(Taken from Wowhead)
If you have 10 masks, you are ~20% done.
If you have 15 masks, you are ~30% done.
If you have 16 masks, you are ~40% done.
If you have 18 masks, you are ~60% done.
If you have 19 masks, you are ~72% done.
If you have 20 masks, I hate you.

So, what are you guys up to this weekend? Any halloween parties? Don't forget to take some pictures for the WoW-Screenshots Costume Contest. Best picture wins a Grunty!

Get That Achievement: Sinister Calling

Hey everyone,

So this week's GTA is the hardest of all the Halloween Achievements. Sinister Calling.

To get this achievement you need to get

Sinister Squashling
Hallowed Helm

You can get it either from killing the Headless Horseman, or from getting lucky and finding it in a Treat Bag or Crudely Wrapped Gift.

Pretty easy, but totally reliant on RNG.

Also, there has been a bug announced related to the Candy Buckets in Northrend.

We are currently experiencing an issue with the Hallow's End candy buckets that is affecting the Trick or Treat Achievements for this event. Certain candy buckets in Northrend, once looted, are preventing characters from looting some of the Candy Buckets required for the Trick or Treats of Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands. The current way to work around this is to get the candy buckets from Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Outland before doing any in Northrend.

Note, doing the Achievements first will prevent some of the Northrend Candy Buckets from being intractable.

We are actively working on a resolution for this and will provide more information when it is available.

Update: At this time please do not submit an in-game ticket on this issue, doing so will not result in a faster resolution as we are still working on the issue and will provide more information when it is available. Thank you.

P.S. If you think of it while in game, take a couple of Halloween Screenshots! Submit them to WoW-Screenshots.com, and don't forget about the Costume Contest!

Hey guys!

I FINALLY got around to doing it... on each players profile pages you can now see the achievements they have, and don't have. If they don't have it, it will show up as a otherwise, you'll see the icon of the ability.

I did notice that built into my scanner (to make it more efficient) it doesn't scan categories until they change. For example, if you have 43 / 44 Reputation achievements, it won't update until you get that last one... sadly there's no way around this (aside form deleting your current achievements and then rescanning, which is an option and I'll probably add that in after a few days).

Other than that, the Achievement count was off FOREVER... which I've fixed.

As for the SAW ad. I know it's been annoying... I sincerely apologize for it... it's even enough to annoy me, and I did contact my ad hosting company to see what I can do about it...

How's Hallow's End treating you? I'm currently trying to do it on ten toons... only seven of which need the title, but I can't tell you how annoying it is to get things like the Sinister Squashling or the Helmet on toons that already have it... gha! How's it going for you guys?

Headless Horseman will be 80 this year

In a post, made by Bornakk today, he revealed that the Headless Horseman, will be level 80 this year.

I'm ASSUMING that the quest will be available at level 75 just like Coren Direbrew was, but that's just an assumption. Personally, I've been trying to level as many toons to 75 as I can over the last couple of weeks so I would be ready for HH... sadly... I got one 80 out of it, and a level 74 hah! Didn't work out so well.

No official news on his drops, but I'd assume they will be about the same as Coren's.

Halloween Contest Official Announcement

Hey everyone!

So this is the official announcement for the Halloween costume contest!

This has NOTHING to do with achievements, or even in game! I want to see pictures of your Halloween costumes! If the costume happens to be WoW related, that's great! But I want to see your costumes no matter what they are!

Official Rules:
1. Each person is allowed to submit one photo of themselves (or by request, their children) in their Halloween costumes.
2. On November 3rd submissions will be closed, and open voting will be opened.
3. On November 6th, open voting will be closed.
4. On November 7th a winner will be announced.

This is the official post, and any changes made to the contest will be noted in a new post and redirected back here.

The winner will receive a Grunty, the Murloc Marine in the mail a few days after the contest.

How to Enter:
1. Go to the WoW-Screenshots.com image submission page and fill out the information.
2. Mark the Category as "Contest : Halloween contest".
3. Select the check box next to "Enter The Halloween Costume Contest"
4. Select "Submit" and you're done!

You'll be able to see all of the submissions On the contest category page.

Hey everyone!

So, I was sitting here thinking about the next contest I want to do to give away another Grunty and it dawned on me...

Cloud and I wanted to do an in game Halloween contest, but we figured "hey... Halloween is coming up IRL! Let's do a real life costume contest!"

So, this contest will be going up very soon (within the next 48 hours).

UPDATE: Due to what I feel would be a small amount of entries. This contest will be being changed to ANY costume, doesn't have to be WoW related.

I'll be making another post when this contest goes live.

Hello all!

Welcome to Monday! I just woke up (it's 9:44 a.m.) gotta love days off from work amirite?

My records show about 62% of people have the achievement The Keymaster, that's not THAT many... and it's certainly something that people may put off over and over again being as how it's a bit of a pain.

So.... go out and do it :)
